Does it really sound like a person? +
It's designed to sound natural and to follow what callers mean, even when they ramble — so the call feels like talking to a person, not a phone tree.
Do I need to change my phone number? +
Not at all — but getting a new number is usually the better option. When you forward an existing number, there can be a short delay before Operator picks up, and some carriers handle forwarding differently. A dedicated Operator number is answered directly, without the forwarding delay you can get when you divert an existing line. That said, if you want to keep the number your customers already know, you can absolutely forward your existing number to Operator and it will work just fine.
What happens after a call? +
The lead is saved with the name, number, job and urgency. If an appointment was booked, it goes straight into your calendar and the customer gets an SMS confirmation. You get an instant notification either way.
What if I want to answer calls myself during the day? +
Easy. During your opening hours, Operator will ring your phone first. If you don't pick up, it steps in. After hours it answers straight away. You can toggle this in your dashboard.
How much does it cost? +
There's a one-time setup fee of $499 to get you live — we build and configure everything. After that, choose the plan that suits you: $25/month for the website Chat Widget, $99/month for Voicemail (message taking & transcription), $149/month for After Hours coverage, or step up to 24/7 Always On answering from $199/month (100 calls), $299/month (300 calls) or $399/month Pro (500 calls). Your monthly subscription starts one month after the upfront payment, then it's billed monthly — no lock-in contracts.
Can I cancel? +
Yes, any time — just email us at hello@operator.net.au. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you won't be charged beyond it. No lock-in contracts.
How long until I'm live? +
Under 24 hours — we build and configure everything with you, so there's no setup work on your end.
